At Piccola Gelateria, our goal is to produce the finest house-made artisan gelato, made according to the gelato artisan standards in Florence and Bologna, Italy. We utilize all natural ingredients including sourcing local milk and cream. In addition, we offer classic piadina (Italian flat bread) sandwiches, fresh-made french crepes, our own custom blended micro-roasted espresso, as well as made-to-order gelato and semi-freddo cakes.
We offer seasonal specialties with all of our daily creations throughout the year.
Piccola Gelateria opened in 2016 as a dream-come-true for its owners, Ria and Ross Turnbull. Chef Ross has spent over 25 years as an Executive Chef and 35 years as a chef, after being trained and working in the best restaurants across Europe. He then traveled back and worked extensively in the U.S. with his wife, Ria, in the hospitality industry. Eventually, they settled here in New Orleans. They always envisioned having a warm, inviting, classic Italian-style gelato shop of their own. They wanted to create an atmosphere where people could meet, relax, and enjoy themselves, as they would in a friend's living room. Through the years, they have learned that quality products paired with genuine service is everything. Providing their clientele with the experience of their Italian "living room", their dreams became a reality in November 2016... and continue to be realized every day.
